Hamilton houses need a builder, not an installer
Hamilton has more century homes than anywhere else we work: Durand, Kirkendall, Westdale, Dundas and the older streets of Ancaster. Stone foundations, low basements, older wiring. Then there's the Mountain, Stoney Creek, Waterdown and Binbrook, where most homes are post-war to brand new with conventional basements. A sauna can go into either, but the older house needs a proper look first: moisture, the condition of the panel, and where a dedicated circuit can run.
That's why our first step is always a site visit by someone who builds, not a sales call. We open the panel, check the walls and floor, and give you a straight answer about what the house can take and what it would cost to get it ready.
Three ways to start
4' × 4' — 2-person knotty cedar
from $8,995 + HST. Heater, controls, lighting, tile floor, framing, insulation, vapour preparation, standard electrical allowance, cleanup, walkthrough, 3-year workmanship warranty.
4' × 6' — Premium 3-person clear cedar
$17,495 + HST. Larger layout, clear cedar interior and benches, same turnkey scope and warranty.
Priority 7-Day Build (4' × 6' premium clear cedar)
$21,995 + HST. Built in 7 working days once materials are on site and the space is construction-ready, or a $500 credit per working day late.
4+ person and custom layouts
quoted. L-benches, glass walls, lighting and heater upgrades, saunas inside a larger basement renovation.
Moisture, wiring and the things that matter in an older house
Vapour barrier and insulation are not optional in a sauna, and in an older basement they also protect the house. Our build includes both.
Electrical in older Hamilton homes is sometimes 60- or 100-amp with no spare slots. Our licensed electrical contractor tells you on the visit whether the panel can take a dedicated 240-volt circuit or needs upgrading, and the upgrade is quoted separately.
Floors: tile is included, your existing concrete can stay exposed if it's suitable, or add cedar walking boards.
